PDI Information

Each year, the National Professional Development Institute (PDI), the premier training event of the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC), takes place in a different city around the country. This three-day, hybrid event enhances the knowledge and skills for financial managers in the Department of Defense, US Coast Guard, and public and private sectors. PDI provides attendees with best practices toward meeting the complex challenges of today’s fiscal environment, aligned with the five strategic goals of the DoD FM Strategy.

PDI 2024 will be held May 29-31 in person at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona with a virtual option available. The PDI 2024 hybrid format offers more than 100 educational sessions with over 300 speakers, and the ability to earn up to 150 continuing professional education (CPE) units, including live on-site sessions, live-streamed sessions to the virtual platform and recorded content post-PDI.

PDI provides a valuable forum for participants from Service HQs, Defense Agencies, major commands, and installation levels to collaborate with leadership, peers, vendors, and clients. This event will also showcase individuals and teams who have been recognized by ASMC for their excellent contributions to the field of defense financial management

Community Day

New for this year! May 29th is Community Day at PDI 2024. Community Day, formerly known as Service Day, is a day set aside for each branch of military service to break into sessions that are specific to that service or agency. The name change reflects ASMC's commitment to serving the broader defense financial management community, and broader scope of activities during this day.

Breakout descriptions, agendas, and additional details will be available soon. When registering, attendees should select which Community Day activities (May 29) they wish to attend (Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, Defense Wide, or DHA).

Virtual Access to PDI 2024

Registered virtual attendees will have access to all general sessions, and will be able to select additional education sessions and minicourses from the virtually live-streamed agenda offerings. Instructions on how to access the virtual platform will be sent approximately two weeks prior to PDI 2024. If you are logging in from a government device and/or connected to a VPN, access will be limited.

Please note: For the best experience, ASMC recommends accessing virtual PDI event from a non-DoD device at a non-DoD location in the Google Chrome internet browser.

Post-PDI 2024 Access

All attendees registered prior to PDI 2024 will be able to earn the maximum credit, post PDI, by reviewing additional session content via audio recordings from PDI 2024 that could not be attended during the conference. This content will be available through the virtual event platform approximately one month after the conclusion of PDI 2024, until February 1, 2025.

PDI 2024 Charity

Each year, ASMC partners with a charity in the community chosen by the PDI host committee. This year’s PDI charity is the Paralyzed Veterans of America. PVA’s mission is to ensure that every Veteran of every age, every branch, and every conflict regains what they fought for: their freedom and independence. They are the only nonprofit Veteran Service Organization dedicated solely to helping Veterans with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D), and diseases, like MS and ALS. Their work impacts every aspect of a Veteran’s life journey, from Day One of their injury or diagnosis. The Arizona chapter will be at PDI 2024 to answer your questions about their mission, how you can help them achieve it and to accept our collective donation. To learn more about this 501(c)3, visit PVA.org.

Health and Safety

If you are not feeling well, please do not attend the PDI 2024 in person and follow the current CDC protocols if you have recently been in contact with someone who has been infected with COVID-19 or any communicable disease. ASMC will continue to monitor all communicable disease levels and other indicators and may adjust policies, as necessary.
